Blog Like It's The End Of The World 2008 (BLITEOTW08)
I've been receiving requests for information on a rerun of BLITEOTW ... there's still two months to go until the day (13 June), so I'm testing an idea I had for registration this year.
I've set up a Frappr map (above) for people to post their location, and the name and URL of their blog. This might help people coordinate their local zombie apocalypses.
If this system seems to be falling down, I'll think of something else at minus one month.
Stay tuned for further news of the end of the world.
UPDATE:
- Blog Like It's the End of the World (BLITEOTW) will take place on 13 June. That's local time wherever you are, the whole 24 hours.
- The idea is that your posting for that day is written as if a zombie uprising were taking place - around the world, and in your home town. That's pretty much it: there's no backstory. Forget that you did this last year, and write a fresh story for yourself.
- You blog about how it's affecting you, what you might witness, rumours or news that you hear, and so on.
- Because it's taking place worldwide almost simultaneously, it's a Romero-style zombiegeddon, where all the recently dead rise up, and are able to infect the living.
- If you'd like to participate, add yourself to the Frappr map above, or add a comment below, or here.
- On the day you can check technorati for posts tagged 'zombies' or bliteotw, or links to here to bluemoonrising.com. Oh, that reminds me: tag or label your blog posts 'zombies' or 'bliteotw' so people can find them. You might also try google blog search to find news.
- It's a collaborative event, so the more you comment on other people's posts, link to them from your blog, spread rumours and riff on ideas, the better!

Wow, I can't believe it's already been a year (almost)! Is it confirmed that it will be zombies again this time around, because that's A-OK in my book.
Sorry Steve...
I committed a lameness... I accidently posted several pins of myself on your map, because I didn't think the picture was uploading correctly, and now I don't know how to fix...
mojo sends
I'm actually kind of half-planning mine this year. Last year's was purely spontaneous timewasting.
New to all of this but the mention of Zombies had my attention. Interesting.
Totally doing this. I need an excuse to make a zombie film.
Sounds fun. More info for newbies, plz.
I can’t believe I made it last year… it was pretty hectic. My pin is still up from last year in the Seattle, WA area. Looks like not many in my area survived....
I’m hoping for some video to go along with pictures. Last year’s pictures were pretty decent: http://just-a-car.livejournal.com/2007/06/13/
I've been stockpiling for this coming year... just in case.
So I got sent here...how does this work? I'd like ta give it a shot.
I'm back. I will try to do better this year.
I am totally in!
Locked and loaded in Ann Arbor, MI. :) Last year I wrote a little song for the occasion; not sure what-all's gonna happen this year.
I'm in!!! Missed it by a day last year, but with a little preparation, I think I can get myself through this year.
Some of my friends and I will definitely be participating again this year. Not sure if we're going to be doing video like last year, but we'll try to throw something cool together.
Here are my entries from last year: http://babylonthegreat.livejournal.com/2007/06/13/
Is anyone planning on keeping a list of participants?
Wow, It looks like the East cost is going to be pretty well defended this year. but the West cost is so screwed. Good luck out there.....
Hi, Babylonthegreat, the only list is on the Frappr map at the moment - I think last year's system was too random.
I'm in! Austin's going *down*!

Looking forward to it!
I'm in. Pin placed and ready to go. Am I the only Aussie so far?
Oh god, I am so in this year too. Last year was incredibly last minute having found out from a friend's LJ, but this year will hopefully be better.
Added myself on the map. Not many of us in Michigan, I see.
Hurray glad I found this in time!
Tripped over it by accident last year, so my contribs were mostly as comments in other people's blogs. Am so going to play this year - although due to school committments, I will probably not be in on it until 1600 ADT.
There's going to be a zombie walk in St. Paul this year on the day, coincidentally. I'm sure nothing will go wrong.
Okay...I'm in.

Looks fun! I'm in.
Hurray hope it goes well or badly (as zombie killings are a must for the event going well). Can't wait to join in.
Somehow I missed out on this last year. But I'm in! Lol! What a fun idea!
...now to figure out how to use the map. ;)

I sort of did this last year and am excited to participate again.

I feel like I've been preparing for this all year!!! I don't know why I never heard of it before...Finally my zombie related paranoia will pay off!
I am so doing this!
Opps that was me!

Great idea! The Zombies (and devil squid) are attacking Olympia, WA at http://svlibertarian.info/category/archives/local-olympia/
Did it last year, and am doing it again this year!

I'm totally in. Never done this before and it sounds awesome. I am however, in a weird timezone compared to most people and I can't get to LJ at work. I'm going to write it all up now (my midnight) and post it with post-dated times.

It's already starting. It's on the news, its in the papers. I don't know where, precisely, it came from but reports are piling in.
The street outside my house is so quiet. I'm afraid.
I don't know if we'll make it.
I'm not just doing a blog post but a special episode of my podcast today.
Heh heh heh...
well, it's nearly 10 pm where I live. So, only one post.

It seems I am the only one in the Philippines doing this, at least according to the map. I could be very wrong though.
ah well.
Awesome! I did this last year - gotta figure out exactly how to go about it this year...
I'm in.
Running late, but I'm in.
I'm a little late to this party. I guess I should pay more attention to the news.
My post thisaway
Fun stuff! Thanks. :)

I am so all over this! :)
Updates found at the link below. Gods help us all.

On the bright side, more zombies to stomp. On the down side, who knew zombies could keep a yearly appointment? Tsk!
Hope I'm not too late! Just saw a post about this on a friend's journal, and I totally want to join in!
It's started here, and reports from my friends tell of riots in Downtown Dallas.

Me too
Ooh! I'm up for it.
Starting here. :D
Nothing better than a zombie attack to wake the mind. Get your flamethrowers, everyone. Let it not be said we haven't tried. :3
they've made it to honolulu. there is no safety on any shore
As a whole, California seems to be doing okay, but...
I was caught completely off guard. Yeah yeah, I should always be prepared for the zombie apocalypse. But I wasn't, and I'm probably going to pay for it dearly. Wish me luck.
I hope the rest of you are faring better than I am.
How the Story Ends
Dunno about the rest of the state, but things aren't going to well here in Arid-zona.
Wonder if the dry heat is going to lead to mummified zombies...
I let them eat my son:

Hey, maybe next year we could do a different theme, like nuclear war or alien invasion?
Thanks!
subtle but there. earthdotprime.livejournal.com
Sounds like some fun!
heheh ;)
That was fun. Did it last year, too.
But...
24 hours is kind of short for a live collaborative project like this.
Anyone up for 7 days next time?
Heh, think I freaked a few people out with my voicepost on LiveJournal ;D
Too much fun! Hopefully I'll havemore notice next year <_< Three hours isn't quite enough.

I'm in! Please put my pin in at Fairbanks, Alaska. My work computer does not like interactive applications.
I went with the "oblivious turned zombie going on with his life in denial" route. :)

Oops, I completely slept through it and managed to survive...
I managed to survive, thank you to the Cedar Rapids & Iowa City & Coralville, Iowa flooding.
Natural disasters sort of protected me from the zombies.
