And the number one way to tell that you're not a good science fiction patron is . . . to not know what skiffy means and having to look it up on wikipedia!

Dean skulks away sheepishly . . . "damn that was obvious!"

[ashamed] Thanks for the link, Dean...

But good grief, could the poster rip Firefly apart any more? I like that there are posts defending the show, biggest one being "It's not Sci-Fi, it's a Space-Western"

There were definite points that I didn't agree with, like the so-called overwhelming amount of sex, I just didn't see it, compared to other shows

[sigh] I won't waste space ranting here

Oops. Sorry, Dean, I remember you asked for links to obscure concepts previously.

Mal hates God, ergo fundies hate Firefly.

I'm not really sure that I buy an argument that tries to convince me something is not good science fiction because it's not enough like Star Trek.

Loosen up, folks. It's My Elves Are Different. It's a humor strip. You know... for people with a sense of humor?
;-P

I find it ironic that the original poster had a qualm about the show never explaining the science behind how things worked. Apparently he never saw the original Star Wars - you know, where they didn't explain the Force? *shakes his head*
